Today our post covers some Kiswahili, another introduction to a key contact at Rorya, and a reminder to think about what you might do and say during our community visits. We should be reading the Bible every day and thinking about what we will say as we visit homes. We are called to GO and teach everything that Jesus said, did and commanded - right? Our hope is that people might be encouraged to turn to Jesus.

The Kiswahili for the day:
The word Habari means “The News.” So if we meet a person we might ask Habari? (What's your news?) If we meet more than one person we would ask Habarini? – (What's the news, you all?) And, of course you can specify the type of news you want:

• Habari za leo? The news of today?
• Habari za watoto? The news about the children?
• Habari za asubuhi? The news of the morning?
• Habari za jioni? The news of the evening?
• Habari za mchana? The news of the afternoon?
• Habari za kazi? – The news about work?

Introductions:
Let me introduce you to Kelvin - he is the director of youth ministries for the Anglican Church of Tanzania and Bishop John Adiema's son. He is a great friend of ours. He is also our main contact for this trip. Kelvin is organizing the youth conference Adda, Mikaela and Cathy will be leading worship at.

Some reminders from our last meeting:
Continue to think about ideas of things you might like to do during this mission trip. We talked about the renovation of the cottage as something those not directly involved in the worship and teaching at the conference might do. We will also be visiting parishes each afternoon.

Think about and write two short teachings. About 500 words each - the theme is "what it is to be Christian." Another way to frame this would be to ask: what does a Christian life look like? or What are the symptoms of being a follower of Jesus Christ? If you are stuck, I have suggestions!! Call me!! (hint: see opening quote for one symptom).

It is important to begin shaping your thoughts and putting them is writing. I hope everyone will have the opportunity to share the Word of God a few times during our visits.
