Praying the Scriptures each day and praying together

As we prepare for this mission trip it is wonderful to ponder God's Word. It is essential to set time aside each day to pray. Perhaps, together we might read the following daily passages, ponder God's provision for us and release ourselves in surrender to God's will?

Two short prayers that might help us get started:

Dear God, give us eyes that see. So we might see the world as You see it.

Blessed God, give us ears that hear. So we might hear You as You call us.

Loving God, give us hearts that love. So we might love each other as You love us.

or,

Loving Father, I am Yours, teach me.

Jesus, I am Yours, save me.

Holy Spirit, I am Yours, lead me.

On Monday - let us pray for safety
Psalm 91:11 For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

Psalm 121:7-8 The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

Proverbs 2:8-9 He guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path.

On Tuesday - let us pray for obedience

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

On Wednesday - let us pray for inspiration
John 16:13  When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

On Thursday - let us pray for guidance

Psalm 32:7-8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.“

On Friday - let us pray for surrender
Isaiah 26:3-4 You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on you, because they trust you. So, trust the Lord always, because he is our Rock forever.

Proverbs 16:9 The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.

Psalm 37 A person’s steps are directed by the Lord, and the Lord delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be thrown down headfirst because the Lord holds on to his hand. I have been young, and now I am old, but I have never seen a righteous person abandoned or his descendants begging for food.

On Saturday - let us pray for transformation

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things.

Matthew 16:24-25 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

On Sunday - let us pray for peace

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

As we end our time of prayer ... this is always a good reminder:
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God's riches are eternal and we are called to live in Him, and for Him according to His passion and desire for us.

Be blessed ... Amen.
